Announcing our delivery partners for School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT)
We’re delighted to announce the 46 partners who will deliver our one-year SCITT teacher training.
This year, 39 new delivery partners will join our seven existing partners for our 2024 programme.
Together, we’ll improve school-based teacher training. We’ll meet local needs and boost educational outcomes for all children and young people, whatever their background.
What is SCITT?
SCITT is a one-year teacher training course where trainees develop their skills in the classroom.
Our research-led programme offers:
- practical experience
- phase and subject-specific training
- a deep understanding of effective teaching methods
Trainees will be eased into the classroom from September and guided by a trained mentor throughout the programme.
At the end of the programme, they’ll get:
- qualified teacher status (QTS) from Teach First
- a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from our university partner, Sheffield Hallam University
Our delivery partners
Our delivery partners are organisations that work with schools in their area. They might be a multi-academy trust, teaching school hub or other training organisation.
The SCITT programme combines our 20 years of expertise with delivery partners’ local insights and knowledge. The result is impactful training that helps new teachers flourish.
Why Teach First?
Teach First is a charity that believes education is the most powerful tool we have to help a child fulfil their potential.
We’re a community of leaders, working in the classroom and beyond, to give children who face the biggest barriers the chance to thrive.
When a trainee joins the SCITT programme through one of our exceptional delivery partners, they’ll get:
- A curriculum meticulously crafted by subject specialists. This guarantees high-quality subject specialism based on the most up-to-date research.
- Personalised trainee support from their delivery partner. The programme has been intentionally designed to support the trainee’s wellbeing and workload to help them thrive in the classroom.
- One-to-one guidance from a skilled and knowledgeable subject-specific mentor. Their mentor will meet and support them throughout the programme.
