  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver.)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

Technical information about our websites’ accessibility

Teach First is committed to making its websites accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

These websites have been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2/2.3 AA/A standards.

This website is partially compliant with the WCAG 2.3 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible content

We are aware that not all our content across all our platforms is completely accessible. The key issues identified span across WCAG 2.2 A, AA and AAA standards.

Navigational barriers for:

Screen reader users

E.G. Custom Components, Decorative Images, Links (In Context), Unlabeled Form Elements, and Links (Out of context).

Keyboard navigation users

E.G. Focus Order, Missing Tab Stop and Focus Not Obscured (Minimum).

Voice activation users

E.G. Custom Components, Label in Name.

Low vision users

E.G. Colour Contrast and Reflow.

We are working to implement solutions across our services to address any non-compliances, with updates made approximately every two weeks.

Disproportionate burden

MyTeachFirst

  • Assistive technology compatibility

Including custom components, expandable/collapsible content and labelling.

  • Mobile Device Accessible

Including bleed through, custom components and reflow.

We’ve assessed the cost and time of correcting the issues that are listed above, and we believe that doing so immediately would be a disproportionate burden, within the meaning of the accessibility regulations. We will make another assessment within the next 12 months.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

Adobe PDFs and other downloadable documents

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix Adobe PDF or other documents, published before 23 September 2018, if they’re not essential to providing our services. For example, we do not plan to correct all potential issues with Adobe PDF files that have already been published, although we will, where possible move to using HTML (web) documents instead of PDF files where possible.

Any new documents that we publish will meet accessibility standards.

Sticky content

The accessibility regulations do not require us to make changes to sticky content e.g. Cookie Acceptance banners.

We will continue to consider iterative improvements of such content alongside other improvements.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

We test and check services with a range of tools and users with varying needs. Where issues are identified, we will check and update services.

We periodically use external audit services (such as the Digital Accessibility Centre) to review the services we provide to our users and make recommendations for improvements.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 10 March 2025. It was last reviewed on 17 March 2025.

The most recent accessibility audit for Teach First and our e-learning platforms was carried out by the Digital Accessibility Centre and user/technical team on 22 May 2024, against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines WCAG 2.2.
