Rural Teaching Partnership
All children deserve excellent teachers. We’ll help you find the right staff and training to unlock every pupil’s potential, wherever they are.
All children deserve excellent teachers
Many young people in rural and coastal schools face real challenges of isolation and deprivation. Teachers in these schools have an important role to play in instilling hope and aspiration amongst young people in these communities.
That’s why we’ve teamed up with the Church of England and Chartered College of Teaching to train new teachers in rural and coastal areas facing a range of unique challenges, and provide targeted support to school leaders.
Children in rural communities deserve excellent teachers, and this partnership is about helping to ensure the best outcomes for children in every community.
Providing support where it's most needed
We know that schools in rural and coastal areas face unique challenges when it comes to attracting new teachers or supporting early career teachers. But one person’s challenge is another’s opportunity. We find and train committed people who thrive on a challenge.
Through our partnership with the Church of England, we’ll recruit and train teachers in rural and coastal schools across England. And working with the Chartered College of Teaching we provide unique training for teaching smaller and especially mixed-age classes. You can count on us to back you all the way with training, connections, and ongoing support.
Who we work with
53% of Church of England primary schools are based in rural areas but we don’t work exclusively with Church of England schools. We work nationally with schools in all areas of England to find teachers for schools serving rural and village communities, coastal areas, or market towns.
We prioritise recruiting trainee teachers for schools in England that teach a high number of pupils from low-income backgrounds. The context of your school, the difficulties your pupils face and the gaps in your team are all factors we take into account when recruiting trainees for you.
This partnership aims to break the cycle. Not only by getting teachers to where they’re needed most, but by building powerful networks of support around them to ensure they thrive. When we get this right, we can create a fairer future for every child.
Network with schools like yours
The Teaching Rural Network is a national group made up of leaders and teachers in rural settings. Their main purpose is to work with the government to help create educational policy that’s a greater fit for rural schools. They also share best practice on how to run, lead and raise the profile of rural schools, and share the brilliance of working in these communities.
I am pleased the Chartered College of Teaching will be part of this exciting initiative. It will shine a light on the expertise of teaching communities in rural areas of England.
How to hire new teachers
You can enquire about working with us at any time of year, but new trainees will only be placed in a school for a September start. Simply get in touch now or visit our teacher recruitment page. Once we know your school’s needs, we’ll start matching applicants with the skills to make the biggest difference.
Training Programme Nomination
We also provide a dedicated route onto our Training Programme for talented support staff and talented individuals known to your school. If you know someone who would like to develop into a teacher at your school, you can nominate them for our Training Programme.
They’ll accelerate their application through several steps of our Training Programme and be able to gain their Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) at your school. Their career progresses and your school holds on to a valuable member of staff.
